Tony Ferguson was once the boogeyman of the lightweight division. However, long gone are those times. Now, ‘El Cucuy’ had garnered seven brutal losses in his last seven fights. As such, he recently lost to Paddy Pimblett in UFC 296. Soon, UFC CEO Dana White expressed his dislikeness in Ferguson continuing to fight. But, ‘El Cucuy’ took to Instagram to announce he had no intentions of retirement.

Dana White in the UFC 296 post-fight press conference stated that he would love to see Tony Ferguson retire. Fight fans agreed with him as well. However, ‘El-Cucuy’ has some other plans. In his recent post on Instagram, Tony Ferguson reminded his fans about faith and hinted at his continuing fighting. Further, he thanked his fans and supporters. Here is what he said:

Tony Ferguson took his training camp to David Goggins for his recent outing against Paddy Pimblett at UFC 296. He hoped to be a refreshed new ‘El Cucuy’ in the octagon. Also, he was confident about putting it on Pimblett. However, things didn’t go Ferguson’s way as he lost a dominant decision to ‘Baddy.’ With this loss, he matched BJ Penn’s record for most consecutive losses in the UFC.

After seven straight losses, the question lingered what’s next for Tony Ferguson? Fight fans suggested a veteran matchup between him and Jim Miller at UFC 300. While it was a fun matchup, Dana White suggested Ferguson to retire, as the UFC might cut him off his contract.

Fight Fans were concerned about accumulated brain damage and opined Tony Ferguson to retire. However, a few still supported him on his quest and respected him for continuing the game despite the hard losing streak. Anyway, the opinion that mattered the most was of Ferguson’s and he wasn’t ready to hang up his gloves. So, ‘El Cucuy’ would return to the cage in 2024.
