Justin Van Heerden and Alexander Volkanovski trained together at Freestyle MMA in Sydney, Australia. He was the featherweight champion of Eternal MMA. Recently, he expressed his interest in fighting Alexsandre Topuria on the same card Illia Topuria fights, making it a tag team match. As such, ‘The Great’ took it to X to share his thoughts. In a Spanish interview, Ilia Topuria mentioned that his brother had signed with the UFC and would compete by March 2024. Since it’s closer to UFC 298, which goes down by February 2024, the chances of the Topuria brothers fighting on the same card remain likely. However, Justin Van Heerden getting the fight would be a long shot as he wasn’t on the UFC roster.

Alexander Volkanovski was confident he would hand Illia Topuria his first professional loss. Now, with his teammate’s callout of the older Topuria brother, they both remain confident in beating them on the same night. While ‘The Great’ shed the limelight on the potential matchup, it was up to the UFC to make it happen.

Recently, Justin Van Heerden, who trained alongside Alexander Volkanovski, called out Alexsandre Topuria on Instagram. As such, he wanted to make the fight on the same day, ‘The Great’ and Ilia Topuria go into action. Now, Volkanovski expressed his interest in the same and mentioned that it was easy money for them.

Although the Topuria brothers fighting on the same card and winning would be a spectacle to watch, it’s improbable to happen. Alexsandre Topuria and Justin Van Heerden haven’t fought in the UFC before and would be making their debut if this fight gets through the UFC minds. However, fans were thrilled about this idea.
