In less than a month, one of boxing’s biggest fights will take place. The WBC super-lightweight weight champion, Devin Haney, will fight Ryan Garcia on April 20. In the run-up to the fight, much of the attention and criticism have been focused on Garcia. This was mainly due to his volatile social media presence. However, Haney has now also become a subject of criticism from fans after he was accused of being a ‘false Muslim’, which caused Tristian Tate to defend him.

Haney received criticism from fans since he is abstaining from fasting during the holy month of Ramadan. The Dream did announce this during the first day of Ramadan and revealed that he could not fast because of his training camp. Hence, some fans were agitated by this, and Haney received a significant amount of backlash. However, unexpected support came to his defense when Tristan Tate stated on social media:

I’m not a scholar, but Devin is at war, preparing for battle, and needs his strength surely.

The younger Tate brother brought up how, according to Islamic rules, there are exceptions for some Muslims during Ramadan. Furthermore, Tristan Tate stated that the list includes kids, pregnant women, travelers on difficult journeys, the ill, and soldiers at war.

Hence, people who are part of the above list are excused from fasting during the holy month. As such, Tate stated that Haney is currently at war while preparing for his upcoming fight against Garica, and believes that he needs his strength.

Devin Haney questions Ryan Garcia’s KO power

Haney will be doing the first title defense of his WBC super-lightweight title against Garcia. The Dream is going into this fight undefeated across his 31-0 career. Similarly, Garcia has only suffered one loss against Gervonta Davis and has a 24-1 record.

Furthermore, he used Garcia’s fight against Davis to prove his point, stating that he quit. However, KingRy is confident that he is going to knock out Haney. The Dream vehemently dismissed this notion. In addition, Garcia has 20 KO victories while Haney has 15 KO victories, but Haney questioned if Ryan Garcia has ever knocked out an elite fighter.

Subsequently, Garcia stated that Haney would be the first elite fighter he knocks out. In addition, Haney’s question was very similar to what Regis Prograis asked him during their face-off
