UFC bantamweight Sean O’Malley had some advice for the young prospect Raul Rosas Jr. The teenager made history when he became the youngest fighter to join the UFC. He joined through Dana White’s Contender Series at the age of 17 with an impressive record of 7-0.

Rosas made his debut in the UFC back in November 2021. At UFC 287 in his most recent fight, Christian Rodriguez defeated Raul Rosas Jr. via unanimous decision, handing the latter his first loss.

On his TimboSugarShow podcast, Sean O’Malley reviewed the fight and felt Rosas has a lot of logical competition in the UFC’s bantamweight class, but stated Rosas might be better off stepping back for some time and really start honing his skills. “There’s definitely guys in the division that he can go out there and beat“, O’Malley says. “…but I don’t even think he needs to out there and get a win, he needs to go out there and get better.

O’Malley’s advice for Raul Rosas Jr. is to take two years off to really master his craft and get good at it so that he can come back and dominate the division. Rosas has repeatedly claimed that he wants to be the youngest UFC champion in history, and he’s already given himself a big advantage by starting at such a young age. Sean says it is absolutely possible for him if he takes his advice, take two years off to seriously train, and comes back when he is twenty.

Christian Rodriguez displayed impressive performance in the fight against Raul Rosas’s offensive strategy.  Rodriguez missed weight during the weigh-ins and was almost captured by Rosas in a rear naked choke in the first round. But Rosas lacked in cardio and experience, which Rodriguez used to his leverage in the subsequent rounds.

He remained calm and gradually took control of the fight. Rodriguez showed excellent takedown defense, stuffing 13 takedown attempts from Rosas Jr. By now Rosas’s tank had run dry. Many mocked that Rosas shouldn’t be competing at the level he is, for he is still a child. Rosas just tasted his first defeat in the UFC. Will he take O’Malley’s advice and come back stronger? Will he become the youngest UFC champion? Only time will tell.

In case you missed it!
