Former UFC welterweight champion Tyron Woodley has revealed a fighter who would entice him into stepping back into the octagon. It’s the superstar at middleweight, Israel Adesanya. Woodley in an interview, spoke about his dislike of Adesanya and the reason behind it.
On the Jaxxon podcast, Woodley said, “Only thing that would get me back to the UFC- only person I would wanna beat the f*ck out of, is Israel Adesanya. ” Further Woodley gave the reason behind this callout. Woodley said that he called out top guys from various divisions because they were the best. According to him, “To be the best you gotta beat the best.“
Currently, Adesanya has slipped from the top after his loss against Sean Strickland. Ever since his loss against Alex Pereira, Adesanya has struggled to find dominance from the earlier stages of his career. Despite winning the title back from Pereira, Adesanya succumbed to a dominating loss against Strickland. On the other hand, Woodley is currently competing as a pro boxer. His most famous bouts came against YouTuber Jake Paul, which he lost by a decision and a knockout. The St. Louis native made a name for himself in the UFC after winning the title and thrashing multiple big-name fighters. Later, Woodley was released from the UFC after his loss against Vicente Luque back in 2021.
Woodley’s dislike of Adesanya is a piece of brand-new information for MMA fans. Many would want to see the way this fight would’ve played if both champions stepped in the octagon.
