Pennington initiated a clinch in the final round, gained top position, and attempted an arm-triangle choke. Although Bueno Silva defended, Pennington finished the bout with leg kicks and ground.
Despite the lack of a finish, the judges gave Raquel Pennington a unanimous victory with scores of 49-46, 49-46, and 49-45. This victory established Pennington as the new women’s bantamweight champion.
