The hype for the historic UFC 300 PPV event has gone out of proportion. With light heavyweights Alex Pereira and returning Jamahal Hill headlining, the decision was subject to criticism. As usual, the fight fanbase has reverted to fan-favorite names like Conor McGregor to appear on the card. However, Michael Bisping doesn’t see the need for that.

The UFC Hall of Famer defended the main event and the UFC 300 card Recently, Conor Mcgregor said he’d fight to the grave, hyping the fans. As such, fans wanted to see ‘The Notorious’ on the historic UFC card.

I think because it was UFC 300, they were expecting something like a Brock Lesnar versus Tom Aspinall or just wild superstars, like a Khabib versus GSP..... I don’t think there was ever any discussion of [Conor] being on 300, There’s been a lot of speculation, but he’s not fighting on this card. It’s a legitimate title fight and it’s at the top of the bill of one of the best cards ever compiled. it was a fight that makes sense and it’s a fight that’s worthy to headline the bill in my opinion

Pereira vs. Hill would amount to one epic clash on any other pay-per-view. But for UFC 300, the potential return of the former two-division champ held much value. Just over a week away from the historic pay-per-view event, a recent tease about his return rocked the boat of expectation. This came from Dana White’s own IG account.

With McGregor confirming a summer return to ESPN MMA’s Marc Raimondi, Michael Bisping thought there was no need to convolute any further. The UFC Hall of Famer hoped for a summer return for McGregor. Furthermore, Bisping said Hill and Pereira were exciting fighters, and the main event title fight made sense.

UFC 300 is right around the bend, but Conor McGregor’s return remains unofficial. Fight fans and enthusiasts assumed McGregor’s return to action would come soon after three years out. They had hoped the historic card in April would be it. This brought unnecessary hate to the main event of UFC 300: Pereira vs. Hill.

Michael Bisping has the best defense for the UFC 300 main event title fight. He felt the accomplishments of Pereira and Hill warranted them the headlining spot. Moreover, Bisping lavishly praised both fighters.

Listen when you look at Alex Pereira, what he’s achieved in this sport in such a short amount of time is just phenomenal. The man has only had what seven fights? Beat four former champions. Jamahal Hill, on the flip side, was the champ, beat Glover Teixeira, has an exciting style.

Jamahal Hill vacated his claims to the gold after a ruptured Achilles tendon at a basketball game during UFC 290 Fight Week. Hence, as such, the (12-1 MMA, 6-1 UFC) former champ is still a legitimate draw who never lost the title.

Meanwhile, as Bisping puts it, two-division UFC and GLORY champ Alex Pereira is quite the storm. He even boasts of highlight wins over four former titleholders. One could say Bisping promoted the title fight main event better than most people did. As such, the fight is worthy of the main event spot.
