UFC veteran Frankie Edgar recently updated fans on a remarkably hilarious event. The video Frankie recently posted on Instagram shows the fighter tumbling out of the octagon during a training session.
The former UFC champion announced his retirement last November. We guess it is evident that even the most experienced of people make mistakes. Frankie Edgar apparently forgets to lock the cage door and falls out when he backs against the octagon.
Frankie Edgar holds the record for the most hours in the UFC octagon. With nearly eight hours of UFC fight performance inside the octagon, Frankie Edgar surely has the experience. But people still make mistakes. “Over 18 years in the game and I’m still making rookie mistakes,” the caption read. “Forgot to lock the cage door when I was training Mark Grey and boom! I was expecting to feel the cage on my back but instead, I felt the stairs dig into my back and the back of my head into the floor.”
“Thankfully there were rubber mats on the floor. Still got up and finished the session, we got fights to win!” Edgar claimed he was not physically injured due to the rubber mats. Mark Grey is a pro-MMA fighter out of New Jersey. He fights in the featherweight division and is currently undefeated. Frankie’s colleagues react to his video in the comments. Kamaru Usman comments with two emojis, laughing at Edgar’s plight while Cody Garbrandt comments, ” Man that happened to me there to”.
Frankie Edgar retirement
Frankie Edgar, the former UFC Lightweight Champion, retired last November. He fought for the final time in the UFC octagon at UFC 281 against Chris Gutierrez. The fight took place at the prestigious Maddison Square Garden in New York.
The fight however didn’t go in favour of Frankie Edgar. Chris Gutirrez delivered a flying knee to the face to knock out Edgar two minutes into the first round.
Edgar was understandably disappointed. “I didn’t want my kids to see me go out that way,” Edgar said. Fans filled the arena with chants cheering the fighter as he made his final takes in his final moments as a UFC fighter. ” I’m just trying to be grateful for what I accomplished. Grateful for the ride I had,” he said on his podcast.
