In the preliminary card of Noche UFC at T-Mobile Arena, Loopy Godinez showcased her dominance over Elise Reed, eventually securing victory with a rear-naked choke. Godinez managed to drop Reed and came close to submitting her with an armbar during the first round.

Although Reed survived the first round, her situation worsened in the second. Godinez continued her striking onslaught and ultimately transitioned the fight to the ground, securing a submission win through a tight rear-naked choke. It was an incredible win, and the Mexican crowd made it even better.

During the post-fight press conference, Godinez explained the support from her home crowd as an injection of drugs. She said, “There is no word for that. That feeling was like a big plus. It’s like an injection of some kind of drug or something. I don’t do drugs but I guess this kinda you feel, I don’t know. It was amazing, I know my people, I know how we are, us Mexicans.”

The fighter claimed that the energy from the home crowd was unmatched and gave her a massive boost. According to Loopy Godinez, she has never taken drugs but that’s exactly how she felt from all the cheering.

Loopy Godinez’s decision to change teams ahead of the fight worked out

Loopy Godinez made significant adjustments in her fighting career ahead of the fight, and she firmly believed these changes were the right decisions. The UFC strawweight decided to switch teams before her comeback at the Noche UFC event. Her entire training camp and preparation were conducted at Lobo Gym in Guadalajara, Mexico. Notably, she trained alongside UFC women’s flyweight champion Alexa Grasso

During an interview, she said, “We’re taking things step by step, but I can guarantee you that where I need to be, that being with Lobo Gym. This is the team that I need to go for the belt, and this (camp) was a confirmation of that. Doing a full camp made me go, ‘Yes. This is where I need to be.”

After her fight, she repeated the same idea when talking to Daniel Cormier, emphasizing how much it helped her win. With this new team behind her, Loopy Godinez is ready to keep moving up in the UFC and become a strong fighter in the sport.
