Conor McGregor gets criticized by President of Ukraine

Volodymyr Zelensky, the president of Ukraine was not very impressed with Conor McGregor joining hands with the president of Russia, Vladimir Putin.

Recently Volodymyr Zelensky sat down for a meeting with Irish politicians, Ceann Comhairle Seán Ó Fearghaíl and Seanad Cathaoirleach Mark Daly. The Ireland representatives visited the war-torn city of Kyiv last weekend following the brutal attack of Russia on their neighbors. During their meeting, the Irish delegates were informed by Zelensky that he did not appreciate former two-division champion Conor McGregor meeting Putin in Russia.

After the meeting, Mark Daly said to the Herald, “He felt he wasn’t being supportive of Ukraine. This man [Ukrainian president] is fighting a war but he knows what’s going on all around the world, including in Ireland.” [From Sunday World] The above comments were of Mr. Zelensky on the UFC Irish superstar.

Despite not showing love towards McGregor, the Ukrainian leader appreciated the support the country of Ireland showed during the time of war in Ukraine. U2 band’s lead vocalist and primary lyricist visited Kyiv and performed in a subway station which the Ukrainian President was very appreciative of according to Daly.

The 2018 Football World Cup was hosted in Russia. Conor is a huge football fan and had the opportunity to watch the FIFA World Cup 2018 Finals between France and Croatia live in Russia. The fighter during his visit also got the chance to meet the Russian leader, Vladimir Putin. The Irishman clicked pictures with the President and posted them on his Twitter which is now deleted.

“Today I was invited to the World Cup final as a guest of Russian President Vladimir Putin. This man is one of the greatest leaders of our time and I was honored to attend such a landmark event alongside him,” wrote Conor in the deleted tweet. During the meeting of the two, Conor dared to put his hand over the Russian President and even received a warning from the leader’s security.

Conor, who owns his own liquor, Proper Twelve claims that the very first bottle was gifted to Putin himself. Conor revealed that his bottle of liquor was confiscated by the security for checking before Putin received it.
