Umar Nurmagomedov, the cousin of Khabib Nurmagomedov expressed his distress at not getting any fights. Much like ‘The Eagle’, Nurmagomedov stayed undefeated in his career and made statements with every win. As such, bantamweights avoided a potential fight with the undefeated Dagestani. Now, he could do nothing but worry about it.

In his recent tweet, Umar Nurmagomedov felt anguish as the UFC didn’t book him any fights. He mentioned spending his life in the gym and not reaping any rewards for his hard work. Here is what he said:

Sadness. Just spending life in the gym. Expecting any rewards. If any body want to fight, I am on the same number.

Umar Nurmagomedov faced the same ill fate faced by his predecessors, Khabib Nurmagomedov and Islam Makhachev. Fighters from their respective divisions avoided them to remain safe from potentially losing to them. These Dagestanis carried an aura of invisibility, making it difficult for the UFC and Dana White to book them a fight.

Umar Nurmagomedov last fought in Jan 2023 against Raoni Barcelos and won the fight via first-round knockout. After the impressive performance, Khabib Nurmagomedov commented “Statement” on his X, propelling the pathway to UFC gold for his cousin. However, what followed was a dry year for Nurmagomedov. He was scheduled to fight Cory Sandhagen in August but pulled out after suffering an injury. Now, after recovery, he didn’t get a fight and called out various fighters in an attempt to fight.

Umar Nurmagomedov was an undefeated prospect in the UFC bantamweight division. He came from the legendary team of Khabib Nurmagomedov and even shared a blood relation with him. Carrying the ‘Nurmagomedov’ name behind him, he propelled their legacy forward. However, he faced hurdles recently as every fighter reluctantly declined a fight with him. As such, he took to X to state the reason for his long absence and pronounced a timeline for his return.

In the tweet, Umar Nurmagomedov said he wasn’t the sole reason for his long layoffs and said it was not up to him. After recovering from an injury, Nurmagomedov found it hard to book a fight. As such, he remained on the sidelines for months, even after a healthy recovery. He stated he was ready to fight at UFC 298 or UFC 299. However, nothing has materialized yet.

Umar Nurmagomedov remained undefeated in his MMA career and even extended his UFC wins to four in January 2023. As such, a year has gone by without a fight for the Dagestani. So, he expressed his plight through X very often now. He even called out names like Deiveson Figueiredo, Jonathan Martinez, and others. However, no fight materialized for him. Still, the fan base await his return.
