‘Unverified’ Charles Oliveira confuses fans with brutally honest comment about former rival Dustin Poirier

Charles Oliveira comes clear about former rival Dustin Poirier in UFC 269. The Brazilian former champion commends ‘The Diamond’ for his performance at the main event between the two lightweights, but with a twist that leaves fans guessing.

The beatdown the two fighters, Charles Oliveira and Dustin Poirier, exchanged at the UFC 269 main event is etched in history. It was one of the most enthralling fights for the lightweight title. After a rigorous exchange of fists and blows, Charles Oliveira came out on top after submitting Poirier in the third round. UFC 269 was the Brazilian’s first title defense.

But things changed quickly when Oliveira got stripped of his title. Oliveira always had issues with weight. He failed to make weight ahead of his title defense against Justin Gaethje. He was given an extra hour to lose the half pound required to make weight but failed to do so. As a result, Charles Oliveira was stripped of the title at UFC 274.

On the other hand, nearly a year after facing Oliveira, Dustin Poirier bags a win against Michael Chandler at UFC 281. Poirier submitted Chandler in the third round with a rear naked choke.

Charles Oliveira creates a dilemma for fans on Twitter about his identity

Oliveira recently replied to a fan clip on Twitter. The clip featured some of the best moments of the Poirier-Oliveira fight. The Brazilian responded to the clip by acknowledging Poirier and his skills. “Diamond is tough like nails, he nearly got me,” said Charles Oliveira in a reply to the tweet. But there’s a twist. With the recent Twitter policy changes under Elon Musk, many celebrities lost their verified check marks. The previously exclusive Twitter checkmark is now commercially available for all for $8 per month.

Many didn’t recognize the UFC fighter on Twitter after his Twitter check was removed. Fans believed it was a fake account posing to be the former Brazilian champion. Twitter now has a strict policy for accounts posing as celebrities as well, so that was another problem.

Charles Oliveira ultimately had to reel out a video confirming that he was himself and not a fake account that commented. Replying to a comment that said Oliveira’s was a fake account, do Bronx posted the video titled “That’s me bro. I just lost the verification #UFCBR “
