“TJ vs Aljo is the fight to make”- Urijah Faber makes case for TJ Dillashaw getting a title shot before Jose Aldo
Jose Aldo and TJ Dillashaw
Urijah Faber speaks on TJ Dillashaw getting a title shot! Aljamain Sterling was out to prove to the entire world that he is a worthy champion and deserves the belt. And he did it in a spectacular fashion.
Sterling defended the bantamweight belt against his nemesis Petr Yan at UFC 273 which was held at the VyStar Veteran Memorial Arena in Jacksonville, Florida. Sterling won the fight via decision. T.J. Dillashaw, the former champion of the bantamweight division is officially back from his ban and is ready to take what’s his.
Sterling called out TJ in the post-fight calling the former champ “Needleshaw” taking shots at his past with steroids. TJ was in the crowd, and he said this in response, “Thanks for the call out my little b**ch. I hope you had fun pretending to be the champ because like I’ve always been saying, Daddy’s home. I’m getting that belt. Easy money.”
Another former champion, Jose Aldo is in line for the title, and he called out Sterling to do the right thing by giving him a title shot. He wrote, “Let the rest of the boys fighting each other and exchanging insults on the internet. In my opinion it does not make any sense to let a guy who got suspended for 2 years for cheating to come back and fight for the belt after winning a split decision in a fight I think he lost.”
“I think a TJ vs Aldo fight would be huge as well”– Urijah Faber explores the possibility of a title eliminator between TJ Dillashaw and Jose Aldo
Dillashaw’s former coach, Urijah Faber is all set to make his promotional debut, and he talked about the current landscape of the bantamweight division during an interview with the MMA Fighting, he said, “Man, that’s a great question. Obviously, I would love to see (TJ) vs Aldo, but I would also like to see Aldo vs. ‘Aljo.’ I don’t think that T.J. needs to show that he’s not there yet, Cory Sandhagen could very easily be the champ, or a title contender himself.”
He added, “He (TJ) is an amazing fighter, they had a close fight and some people thought Sandhagen won. Right now, for relevancy, I think T.J. vs. ‘Aljo’ is the fight to make, and then Aldo gets the winner of that. I think a T.J. vs. Aldo fight would be huge as well, but you don’t have the hunk of metal on the line so it’s dulled down a little bit, and then Aldo lost to Petr Yan.”
“So I think the story is still a T.J. vs. ‘Aljo’ fight, or an Aldo-’Aljo’ fight because Aldo is somebody that has taken that loss from Yan and it really lit a fire and he’s looked better than he ever has, so I’d like to see that, too.”
