Valentina Shevchenko speaks on Namajunas’ performance at UFC 274! Rose Namajunas took on Carla Esparza while her UFC strawweight title was on the line. Before the fight, given the reputation of Namajunas, people assumed that the fight would be extremely entertaining. But in reality, the bout turned out to be boring and possibly the worst championship fight in UFC history.
Throughout the fight, both Namajunas and Esparza maintained distance and didn’t try much in the offense department. After five rounds of an uneventful bout, Esparza was declared the winner via split decision. The memories of the co-main event of UFC 274 are still fresh in many fans’ minds or it can be said that there was nothing to remember from that fight.
Following the fight, both the fighters had their opinions about the fight. Rose posted an apology on her Instagram account and said that she was sorry, and she even congratulated Carla on her victory. Carla, on the other side, revealed that she felt the fight could have been a great fight. However, she was sad that the fight did not go as everyone planned.

Women’s flyweight champion, Valentina Shevchenko is a big fan of Namajunas, and she had something to say about her performance during her appearance on The MMA Hour, she said, “It’s hard to say exactly what was wrong in that fight. I feel that Rose kind of has everything better, comparing to Carla, and she just didn’t use much. She could wrestle her easily because I feel Rose has more potential in her wrestling against Carla, she just didn’t use her skills.”
She added, “It can happen with everyone, but every time I rely on my corners. They will yell at me and say what they think about me and what I’m doing. Sometimes it’s necessary, and I feel with all the microphones corners have, they put extra pressure on them to say everything too politely, but sometimes fighters don’t need that, they need an extra push, an extra boom! Just to wake up, to have this spike of adrenaline.”
