2023 has not been kind to Valentina Shevchenko. She lost her flyweight title to Alexa Grasso at UFC 285. Valentina went for a spinning wheel kick that led to Grasso taking her back and submitting her. Shevchenko had a split draw against Grasso in the title rematch at Noche UFC. Judge Mike Bell absurdly scored the final round in favor of Grasso, which led to the draw.

In the post-fight interview, Valentina Shevchenko claimed that Mexican Independence Day led the judges to score the fight a draw. It led to Grasso retaining her title. Fans on the internet dug up an old video of Shevchenko reacting to her loss on the scorecard. It came against Amanda Nunes at UFC 215. The judges gave a split decision in favor of Nunes, which angered Shevchenko.

Fans to this day debate the outcome of Nunes vs. Shevchenko 2. Some felt that Valentina deserved to win the bout. Others gave the fight to Nunes. The most crucial aspect of the fight remains that after five rounds, Nunes looked devastated. It looked like she didn’t think she had done enough to win the bout. However, Nunes’ face started glowing up once the decision came in her favor.

Shevchenko has now been on the bad end of two split decisions. The UFC could book a trilogy bout between Grasso and Shevchenko sometime next year. It will also be the final title fight Shevchenko would receive against Grasso. However, she must recover from the thumb injury she sustained against Grasso at Noche UFC before fighting.

Fans negatively react to the resurfaced clip of Valentina Shevchenko

The resurfaced clip of Valentina Shevchenko complaining about the split decision at UFC 215 resurfaced on the internet. Her comment at Noche UFC about the judges’ results influenced by Mexican Independence Day did not sit well with some fans. Check out some of the negative reactions:

The reaction from the fans was overwhelmingly negative. They claimed that Shevchenko never gave credit to her opponent. However, it is just the internet getting upset over nothing. Valentina has the right to feel that way, even if she is wrong.
