‘King’ Bobby Green is really close to making a whopping sum of $1 Million Dollars. The only thing between him and his goal is the December bout against lightweight contender Dan Hooker. Green (31-14-1, 1 no contest) won his second submission win this year against Grant Dawson at UFC Vegas 80. These two victories in 2023 earned him $50,000 “Performance of the Night” bonuses, inching him one step closer to his million mark.
“Every time I touch that floor, I’m going closer to my goal. My goal, I told my coach this year, I’m going to make you $100,000. He gets 10 percent of my check. So if he makes $100,000, that means I made a mily,” said Green in an interview at The MMA Hour with Ariel Helwani. “We’re real close. I’m going to make $1 million this year. That’s been my goal, and so I need to do this last one which accomplishes that.”
Rising to prominence in the Strikeforce organization, Green moved to the UFC in 2013. Within the promotion, his résumé consists of stable leaps up to the lightweight division. These have included a sum total of four Fight of the Night bonuses and four Performance bonuses. Despite a long career, he is in optimal shape, with three matches in 2023 (two wins; one no contest).
He is determined to reach his goal of a million. Moreover, he has also said that he is ready for whoever he faces. As such, knowing that Hooker is interested, he has said he is keen to participate if it gets opened up and carded. Hooker isn’t the only option out there for Green, though. In the aftermath of his recent win, Renato Moicano has called him out inside the octagon.
Bobby Green obliterates Grant Dawson in under half a minute at UFC Vegas 80
Bobby Green decidedly defeated fellow lightweight contender Grant Dawson this Saturday, Oct. 7, at UFC Vegas 80. The fight happened at UFC Apex in Las Vegas, Nevada, where the veteran made his way through in spectacular fashion. The fighter hopes to fight Dan Hooker next.

The match started progressing quickly, with Dawson doing the ranged jabs and early advancements, Green maintained a firm stance. Dawson kept his momentum forward with his jabs, looking to unload and connect a big knockout punch early on. But out of nowhere, Green caught Dawson with a straight left jab that connected well. Green forced in some heavy ground-and-pound before he was peeled off. Thus came the first-round victory.
Green is already coming fresh off a memorable submission finish over Tony Ferguson, very recently. He defeated Ferguson with a third-round arm-triangle choke at UFC 291 in July. With Dawson, the match was never too high stakes. But he still was ranked #10 in the lightweight division and is a well-known contender. This has given Green momentum for his next venture.
