Conor McGregor is a name synonymous with the concept of combat sports. Even Quinton “Rampage” Jackson thinks this as well. The fighter returns to action at UFC 302, at UFC’s International Fight Week in June. His expectant rival is TUF Season 31 oppositional, Michael Chandler. The 23-8-0 fighter recently vowed to end McGregor’s fame and fandom, at the much-anticipated showdown.

Recently, McGregor also mocked Chandler with a troll video, comparing their lifestyles. Reeling from his UFC 264 injury and a subsequent titanium insertion, the fighter remains ready. Despite his antics or rise to stardom though, it cannot be denied that “The Notorious” has made the sport a household name. Speaking on the ‘Jaxxon podcast’ here’s what the host added:

I think the thing about McGregor - he had a whole country behind him. I think he had the whole England and Ireland behind him! And then all the Irish people in America...I don't rate him as one of the best fighters. But I think he was the best thing for the sport. He took our sport to another level, made it a household name along with himself...

This was during the segment ‘Top 30 UFC fighters‘ which Bear Degidio hosted. Speaking with TJ Dillashaw and Jackson, the trio did a deep dive into McGregor’s draw power. Irrespective of the result, UFC listings have McGregor’s bouts as the top 10 PPV buyouts.

Recently, MMA commentator/veteran Chael Sonnen commented on this as well, on his YouTube channel. Ahead of UFC 302, the Irishman has been garnering even more attention, with clear aspirations of “20th KO in MMA competition”. His sociopolitical acumen has also been adding to his fame, recently.

Conor McGregor reasserts commitment to country and community

Recently, Quinton Jackson delved into superstar Conor McGregor’s draw-in power and rise to stardom. Speaking on his ‘Jaxxon podcast’, the Dubliner’s highlight square-offs were mentioned. But recently, the fighter’s sociopolitical commentary is what has taken the world by storm, thus adding to his fame.

“The Notorious” recently doused fighting words at the current Irish administration, going up against ‘older’ Irish Presidential competition. The fighter had even outlined his plans for a run for the presidency.

Now, the fighter has taken to X, yet again, to reaffirm his commitment to “country and community“, as a successful entrepreneur, MMA promoter, and beacon of hope.

Concurrently, the fighter also tweeted on the 2nd death anniversary of 23-year-old Irish teacher and musician Ashling Murphy. Murphy was stabbed to death in 2022, on which McGregor started a commentary. His commentary on a tweet had apparently incited the infamous Dublin riots.

That, and his subsequent stances on the Irish GARDA and Traveller Rights Activist (Seanad), Senator Eileen Flynn earned him much popularity. So much so, that many MMA enthusiasts and even peers backed his political aspirations.
