UFC fighter Vicente Luque made his comeback at UFC Vegas 78 against Rafael dos Anjos. Luque fought after a long layoff in the UFC after facing a career-threatening injury in his last fight.
In an interview with MMA Fighting podcast, Luque spoke about the struggles of recovering from this injury. He said, “I’m very calm, and at the same time I always give my 100 percent to MMA. I didn’t imagine that one day something like that would happen, but I knew I would be ready if it did. I was calm, but the first couple of days or weeks, there really was doubt that something — and that did worry me if I would be able to continue fighting or not because fighting is what I love doing the most. I’m far from my dream of becoming a champion, I want to achieve that. For the first time in my career, I had to think that something could come and take everything away from me out of nowhere.” (H/T MMA Fighting)
With 19 appearances in his UFC career, Vicente Luque was one of the most active fighters in the UFC. But after his last fight against Geoff Neal, reports showed that Luque had suffered a brain bleed from the knockout loss in August 2022.
Further, Luque spoke about the changes he made in his training. He also spoke about how he had to find ways of reinventing himself to try and stay ahead of his competition. This fight turned out to be one of the biggest comebacks in the UFC, as Luque defeated dos Anjos after 12 months of break.
Rafael dos Anjos faced Vicente Luque at UFC Vegas 78
UFC Vegas 78 took place on the second weekend of August. Fans did not care much about the main event fight. Rafael dos Anjos fought Vicente Luque in a welterweight showdown.
Rafael dos Anjos tried to improve his winning streak. And Vicente Luque, after his long layoff, returned to the octagon. A much-anticipated fight where either opponent could be holding an edge against the other.
