Aljamain Sterling confirms paying the price with his championship belt after he tried to make the fight more interesting
Aljamain Sterling’s loss at UFC 292 was an absolute shocker. Given the recent record of the former champion, it was expected that he would wrestle with O’Malley and ultimately win the fight.
However, it didn’t work, and according to the fighter, it happened because of his carelessness. “He stayed disciplined to his game plan, and I kind of let trying to be a little bit more of an exciting style for the fans play a factor…We’ve seen bad fights before, where it’s like not much happens, because no one wants to make that grave mistake. I made the mistake, Sean capitalized. I paid for it,” said Aljamain Sterling on the fight.
In the past, Sterling has been labeled as a boring fighter by many fight fans, and it seems like this caught up to him and he felt the pressure to do something different. As a result, he over-extended and ended up on the canvas.
