“These guys are always speaking bullsh*t”- Charles Oliveira goes after team Islam Makhachev in a heated back-and-forth at UFC 280 presser
Charles Oliveira and Islam Makhachev
Charles Oliveira is set to fight Islam Makahachev at UFC 280 come Saturday in Abu Dhabi. Everyone first believed Oliveira and Makhachev would fight at UFC 283 in Brazil, but as things progressed, they ended up being in Abu Dhabi. Meeting prior to their fight, Oliveira and Makhachev got into a furious dispute during the pre-event press conference.
Charles Oliveira was questioned about how it felt to be in enemy territory when at Makhachev’s home during the press conference prior to their confrontation. Oliveira responded, “I am home, I like to be in places like this, I also invited them to come to my house but they never come to my house so I knocked on the people’s door and go to there”.
Makhachev argued that Brazil was where he and his team wanted the fight to take place. Oliveira reiterated, “This fight was never supposed to happen in brazil …these guys are always speaking bullsh*t.” In response to Oliveira, Makhachev stated, “The first you asked about this fight … I put pictures on Instagram I want to do this in Brazil.”
Makhachev said Oliveira that he wanted to avoid this fight in the end Oliveira replied, “In no moment you wanted this fight to be in brazil, you never mentioned brazil, you never wanted this fight to be in brazil, don’t worry daddy’s here.” Everyone first believed Oliveira and Makhachev would fight at UFC 283 in Brazil, but as things progressed, the fight was scheduled in Abu Dhabi.

Islam Makhachev dismisses Charles Oliveira’s claims of him refusing to fight in Brazil
According to Oliveira, he was scheduled to compete against Makhachev on the UFC’s January card when the organization announced they would be returning to Brazil. The former lightweight champion, however, asserts that Makhachev declined to travel to Brazil and instead begged to have the fight in Abu Dhabi, where it will now take place.
Speaking to the “AG fight” Charles said, “I don’t think this Makhachev fight should have happened now. They talked so much about how they would take the fight in Brazil, That’s a lie. If they had accepted to fight in Brazil, we would be fighting in January...but they took the fight to where they wanted. It’s okay.”
Later, Islam Makhachev denied allegations that he passed up the chance to challenge Charles Oliveira in Brazil. Speaking to ESPN MMA Makhachev said, “When they offered this fight, I said ‘Doesn’t matter where.’ I told them I am going to come to Brazil…I wanted a title fight and this guy’s trying to run. He’s saying I want to [fight] McGregor or Nate Diaz…But, I told you it doesn’t matter where – Brazil, Abu Dhabi, or some other place.”
It will always turn into a brutal fight, regardless of where these two boxers were scheduled to square off. All that counts on Saturday is which fighter will be crowned the next lightweight champion and which one will submit to defeat.
