WATCH: Dana White abruptly ENDS press conference after Kamaru Usman makes phone call following brutal defeat to Leon Edwards

Kamaru Usman- Dana White

Dana White may not be the man of the press, but is a man of his favourite fighters, case in point, Kamaru Usman. Usman, the former UFC welterweight champion just lost his belt in his last fight, a rematch against Leon Edwards at UFC 278 when the latter landed a beautiful head kick in the final minute of the fight that Usman was actually and unfortunately winning. Usman was just one win away from tying with Anderson Silva for the longest winning streak in UFC history.

With that said, regardless, Usman has strongly earned himself a position to return directly for a title fight and a trilogy against Edwards. With the third most title defences and becoming the first African UFC champion in the UFC welterweight history, Usman is a certified future Hall of Famer and what happens next will be nothing short of a strong comeback for “The Nigerian Nightmare.” But for now, Edwards deserves all the love and respect for coming a long way from the trenches of brutally hard times throughout his childhood and teenage and eventually making it to the top of the world.

In the post-event media scrum for UFC 278, UFC President Dana White reacted to every moment of the event which included Edwards’ head kick knockout as well as former UFC middleweight champion Luke Rockhold calling it a career after going to war with former UFC title challenger Paulo Costa in the co-main event.

In the end, White receives a call from someone. Immediately, it’s not figured out who’s on the call, but White immediately calls off the scrum session with media outlets after 18 minutes and leaves the mic. The Twitter world, however, gets it right and you can hear the man from the call saying “hey, champs f**k up sometimes,” it’s none other than Usman himself talking to White.

What do you make of White receiving a call from Usman abruptly leaving the post-event media scrum? Do you think Usman will get his title back? Or will Leon Edwards stick to defending the belt for a good time? For the records, Edwards is the second African UFC champion in welterweight history after Usman, the second man to win a UFC championship out of England and Jamaica after Michael Bisping and Aljamain Sterling and the first Jamaica-born UFC champion.
