Derrick Lewis wasn’t impressed with Jailton Almeida’s game plan, which ultimately helped the fighter take a win. In the main event of the UFC Sao Paulo, Jailton Almeida and Derrick Lewis clashed in a heavyweight bout, which had a lot of anticipation.
The match didn’t unfold as fans had anticipated, with Almeida controlling Lewis for approximately 25 minutes. After five grueling rounds, he had to be content with a majority decision win.
Almeida came to the fight with a single strategy. He applied it from the beginning of the fight till the very end. Almeida constantly shot inside for the takedown and then attempted to get a better position on the ground.
Almeida chose to take control of time rather than deal maximum damage, but even with that decision, he could still win the battle by a wide margin because she spent the bulk of the fight either in the mount or inside control.
A video became popular online depicting a fight in which Lewis, who was not very effective on the ground, became visibly impatient with Almeida’s techniques and comically questioned what he was trying to accomplish.

Additionally, fans suggested that the referee should have stepped in and encouraged the fighters to get back on their feet rather than staying on the ground for 21 minutes.
