Kadyrov and Khamzat
Khamzat Chimaev was recently married in a lavish ceremony under the blessings of the dictator of the Republic of Chechnya, Ramzan Kadyrov. When you make friends like Kadyrov, your family and everyone you know is hostage as long as you’re in their good graces. It seems like Chimaev is even ready to dance on command for the brutal leader.
For anyone caught up on world politics or MMA, Kadyrov is a face you see quite often. Most recently because of sanctions placed on his country due to it’s role in the Russian invasion of Ukraine and the humanitarian crisis that has followed. For the average MMA fan, he is the guy that casually beats up world champions like Khabib Nurmagomedov and Khamzat Chimaev.
Kadyrov is most notorious in the MMA community for his continued association with Dominance MMA fighters under Ali Abdelaziz. Many fighters including active champions have made the trip down to the secluded nation and even trained at Kadyrov’s personal fight club, Akhmat MMA.

Kadyrov has taken a deep interest in the career of Chimaev, as a sports star works as an incredible soft power symbol in a country run by fear of the leader. Earlier in 2020, he made Khamzat reconsider a forced early retirement due to complications he was suffering due to COVID. Kadyrov even offered to cover all of Chimaev’s medical bills recalling him to recover in Chechnya.
Most recently he was seen at the young superstars’ wedding, which was probably sponsored by him as it featured everything from G-Wagon convoys to personal Rolls Royce’s for the bride and groom. Now Khamzat has been seen performing the traditional dance of the caucuses with a woman we can only assume is his wife, but it’s a private show for the dictator.
Yes, at what seems to be a dinner ceremony, Khamzat can be seen tap dancing along with his newlywed wife for a room full of people cheering on. The camera zooms into Khamzat’s smiling face before it pans to reveal the leader himself standing in what seems to be his private dining hall complete with a life-size picture of him in the background.
While fans have criticized Chimaev for his association with the dictator many acknowledge that he has no say in the matter unless he is willing to risk the life of his kin.
