Bisping and GSP have a short reunion cage side

When Michael Bisping made the first defense of his Middleweight title against his fierce foe, Dan Henderson it came as a surprise to many that his next opponent would be a returning GSP. What was noteworthy is that despite being out of action for almost half a decade, GSP was to receive an immediate title shot on his return, not even in his own weight class.

The lead-up to the fight saw heavy promotion from the UFC, marketing the triumphant return of their once greatest star. It birthed one of the most infamous zingers in MMA history, when GSP asked Michael Bisping, who was late to their press conference in Vegas, “Are you intoxicated” prompting Bisping to repeat the question with a heavy sarcastic tone rhetorically asking GSP what else was there to do in Las Vegas.

The fight took place at the iconic Madison Square Garden and though it was short, it was memorable as GSP was able to return to full form against a champion in another weight class. Submitting Bisping in only the second round via an RNC, St Pierre managed to mark his name as one of the few double champs in the promotion’s history and go down as the undisputed GOAT.

St Pierre would shortly retire thereafter while Bisping would take a short notice fight against Kelvin Gastelum in Shanghai China, just 17 days after his loss to GSP. He was knocked out by Gastelum in the very first round after which the Brit laid down his gloves and said goodbye to the sport.

The two have come miles since that tumultuous time in 2017. Both Bisping and St Pierre have started their respective careers as analysts though the brit has had more success in this field. At UFC Vegas 58 however, Bisping took time off his official broadcast duties to say hello to his former foe now friend.

Walking up to the opposite side of the octagon, Bisping greeted St Pierre who was seated cage-side too saying, “How’s it going brother, good to see you man” Embracing GSP in the process. “I saw you were busy and I didn’t wanna come and disturb you” said GSP as he smiled back to Bisping while shaking his hand.

Bisping would then say, “That was good time back in Manchester” before he took his leave to head back to the booth. However GSP would pull in Bisping and whisper something to him prompting a jovial Bisping to reply, “I’m down I’m down, anytime bro” with his arms spread out wide.
