WATCH: UFC Legend BJ Penn gets knocked out COLD in street fight
BJ Penn
Former UFC lightweight champion and arguably one of most established UFC fighters, BJ Penn got into a street fight in Miami, Florida. In a video that surfaced on the internet, Penn can be seen getting into an argument with a half-naked guy with camo shorts. Both men were surrounded by their friends and random people who couldn’t comprehend what was happening in the situation.
In the video, the camo shorts guy can be seen trying to wrestle Penn to the ground and throwing punches. After missing a few of them, the guy connected Penn on his face and knocked him out. It seemed like Penn wasn’t trying much to fight instead was trying to control the situation. But, unfortunately got caught with some clean shots.
The UFC Hall of Famer retired from UFC in 2019 after losing 7 fights in a row however, he was still active in other promotions. After that video went viral, Penn did open up about the incident and shared his point of view.

“Had to defend myself”- BJ Penn reveal that he was the victim in the whole street fight incident
Soon after the street fight took place, BJ Penn did a telephonic interview with TMZ Sports where he spoke about what happened that night. Penn revealed that the guy was one of his friends and they had a little rift which got out of control. Penn explained that initially he tried his best to bring things in control but the other guy started swinging at him.
He said: “I was like no no no, I don’t want to fight, we’re friends, everything is cool? This and that. So he even walks outside and I’m thinking this is silly I’m going to go get him. Then I walk outside to go give the guy a hug and then he hits me twice and I’m like , ‘ No,no calm down! I try to give him another hug and he hits me a couple more times and he hits me again.”
Penn never imagined that things would get this serious as he thought the guy would eventually give up but that wasn’t the case.
“But really I thought the guy would eventually just say forget it BJ, give me a hug or whatever and he hit me good and knocked me down and then when I got back up he tried it again and I just had to defend myself already,” said Penn.
It seems like Penn had no other option but to retaliate which he did even after getting knocked out. In a clip, Penn can be seen chasing down the guy and beating him by pushing him to the ground.
