Alex Pereira is a household in kickboxing, especially in the kickboxing promotion Glory. He became the first and only simultaneous two-division champion of the promotion. Now, he was inducted into the Hall of Fame of Glory. He was only the third person to be instated into the Glory’s Hall of Fame, following Joseph Valtellini and Semmy Schilt.

Alex Pereira has an upcoming bout in the UFC against Jiri Prochazka. This fight is the main event of UFC 295 and is going down at Madison Square Garden, New York. Hearing this good news from Glory before his fight in the mecca of fighting excited Pereira. He recorded an acceptance video while preparing for his fight next week. Firstly, he talked about his time in Glory and how much it helped him as a fighter and person. Then, he thanked the promotion and its members for this honor. Here is what he said:

I'm super happy to be this year's Glory Hall of Fame winner. My time at Glory was an important part to grow as a martial artist and as well as a person outside of the ring. Glory has been my home for many years and being the third in the Hall of Fame really means a lot to me.

The Brazilian had fought in Glory for almost eight years. He parted ways with the promotion when he transitioned to MMA from kickboxing. Alex Pereira ended his kickboxing career with a record of 33-7 with 21 knockouts. Then, he signed with the UFC and kickstarted his MMA career with three wins before getting the title shot against his long-term rival, Israel Adesanya. He knocked Adesaya in UFC 281 to become the UFC middleweight champion.

Later, he lost the belt to Adesanya in the rematch and moved to the light-heavyweight division. There, he won over the former champion Jan Blachowicz and earned a shot at the title. Now, he is fighting for the vacant light-heavyweight title against Jiri Prochazka in UFC 295.
