Fabiano Buskei, better known as Charles Oliveira‘s translator has become a cult figure in the MMA sphere since the rise of Oliveira and his accompanying translations for the champion. Ever since ‘Do Bronx’ became champion at UFC 262, Fabiano has been by his side translating every word that comes out in Portuguese with the same intense emotions into English. However, he almost got into trouble by doing his job too well and touching Dana White in the same way Oliveira did after his win against Justin Gaethje.
Fabiano is not a full-time translator, appearing on UFC broadcasts is a thing he does for himself. He works as a business development analyst for a tourism company based out in Vegas. Since he works in a field where he may meet people of different backgrounds, he has learned many languages to go along with his line of work.
He is fluent in Portuguese, Spanish, English, and even German with German being the only language he learned by himself as he was familiar with Portuguese having been born and raised in Brazil.
Charles Oliveira’s translator accidentally “Struck” Dana White
Recently while talking to Full Send MMA, the translator revealed how he almost got into trouble for doing his job too well. Buskei’s only instructions were, to “match his emotions” and Oliveira had never been as emotional as he was after his first-round finish of Justin Gaethje in his hometown.
After the fight, he was called in for a meeting with Dana White where they wanted to praise the lightweight. In a quick translation for the Boss, an emotionally intense Oliveira was noticeably hyped about winning the fight and not having his belt to carry home with him.
As he explained his thoughts Oliveira started intensely pointing towards Dana White’s chest as if he wanted to nail that point into Dana’s heart. Unwittingly Fabiano followed suit and pierced his fingers into Dana’s chest thrice. “So I tapped my finger on Dana White’s chest, but hey they asked me to match the emotions,” said Buskei.
Describing himself as an “emissary of emotion” Fabiano confirmed that he wasn’t in any trouble because of the incident and expressed his love and wish to keep working with MMA.
