Like many professional fighters, Robert Whittaker has some great-looking tattoos on his body. Those tattoos have their distant stories and meanings that the fighter resonates deeply with.

Robert has a tattoo on his chest which looks like an arrangement of stars and since he is Australian, many thought it was a representation of his country. However, the story behind it is different. While talking to Fatherhood, Whittaker revealed why his father was the reason he has that tattoo.

“Looking back retrospectively I can see that my father sacrificed a lot, he did a lot of things I’m sure he didn’t want to do, and he always put us first. When I walk into the Octagon I always tap my chest,” said Whittaker remembering his childhood days.

For Whittaker, the southern cross tattoo is his bond with his father but it doesn’t dislike fans connecting it with patriotism.

“People often see that as me tapping my Southern Cross tattoo and I don’t mind it being interpreted like that because I am very proud of my country. But there’s another reason why I do that. My father got me that tattoo when I was 18. And I always tap my chest to show that whether he’s in the crowd or in the stands or at home, it’s a way for him to know that I’m thinking of him. It’s my way to show him that I know he’s watching.”

Whittaker’s right arm has a tattoo, a strong tribal and ancient-looking tattoo that the fighter dedicates towards his mother. At a young age, Whittaker’s parents got separated and her mother was from New Zealand where the fighter was born. The fighter didn’t get any chances to spend time with his kiwi family however, his arm tattoo is the representation of his rich Maori heritage.
