When it comes to UFC fighters promoting the ‘American Dream’ and patriotism, nobody comes closer to Colby Covington. The former UFC welterweight title contender has always been open about his political preferences.
It all started back in 2018 when Covington decided to change his UFC persona to remain on the UFC roster. With that, the fighter brought the patriotic sentiment as he started wearing a red and white ‘Make America Great Again’ hat and showed his support for Donald Trump.
When he won the UFC interim welterweight title by beating Rafael dos Anjos, Covington took his belt and visited the President at the White House.
The fighter showed his appreciation towards Trump and his political campaign when Covington invited the former president to his fight against Robbie Lawler. Donald Trump Jr and Eric Trump did show up to Colby Covington’s fight that night.

After that fight, Colby got a congratulatory phone call from Donald Trump for his win against Robbie Lawler. During an interview, he said: “President Trump is making our country great again and I’m making the UFC welterweight division great again. Let’s unify the belt.”
On the same night, Covington and Usman had a verbal altercation in which the ‘Chaos’ boasted about his connection with Trump. “You get a call from the president today? That’s right you are a loser. No one gives a f”** about you. Everybody came to see me,” said Covington.
During his first title fight with Kamaru Usman, Covington was wearing his MAGA hat throughout the promotion. However, he lost the fight via TKO and stormed out of the arena after it.
The fighter then bounced back after beating Tyrone Woodley at UFC UFC Vegas 11. This opened gates for his second title shot against Usman in 2021 but Covington lost the title opportunity again. Even though Trump is not the current president, Covington still tries his best to promote him every time he gets a chance.
