Dana White‘s Contender Series provides an opportunity to many talented fighters every year. One such young prodigy is Ikram Aliskerov.
Ikram Aliskerov is a Russian mixed martial artist who competes in the UFC’s middleweight division. Aliskerov recently made his UFC debut at UFC 288 against Phil Hawes. Hawes made his debut in the promotion back in 2020. Meanwhile, with a professional record of 14 wins and 1 loss, the Russian prodigy made an absolutely stunning performance against Phil Hawes.
Aliskerov actually has scraped with another of UFC’s big stars before. He and Khamzat Chimaev actually fought against each other at the Brave Combat Federation – 23. Back in 2019, Aliskerov and ‘Borz’ went head to head and Chimaev absolutely destroyed Ikram. Khamzat Chimaev didn’t extend the fight. The Swede knocked out Ikram Aliskerov in the first round. Both fighters had an excellent grappling exchange and Chimaev landed strikes early. A clean uppercut by Chimaev is what took down Aliskerov, and he had to accept defeat.
That loss against Chimaev is the only loss in his entire professional career. Khamzat Chimaev is undefeated with a career record of 12 wins and 0 losses. He has faced some of UFC’s best, like Gilbert Burns and Kevin Holland, and yet describes Ikram Aliskerov as his most formidable opponent yet. Aliskerov is a highly talented Sambo practitioner with gold medals in major championships. He made a stunning entry in the UFC with a first-round knockout only two minutes and ten seconds into the fight.
What happened at Ikram Aliskerov vs Phil Hawes at UFC 288?
Phil Hawes is an American mixed martial artist who competes in the Middleweight division of the UFC. Meanwhile, Ikram Aliskerov is a UFC newbie who just made his debut at UFC 288 against Phil Hawes.
The fight immediately started off with heavy strikes, but that didn’t last for long. With a beautiful combination, Ikram Aliskerov knocked the lights out of Phil Hawes in the first round of his UFC debut fight. The fight only lasted around two minutes and the end left fans and the commentators screaming with excitement.
Ikram Aliskerov didn’t waste time. In his Octagon interview, he called out fellow middleweight contender Bo Nickal. Ikram also mentioned a rematch with Khamzat Chimaev in his post-fight press conference. Will fans get to see ‘Borz’ and Aliskerov reignite their BRAVE rivalry now here in the UFC? Will Ikram Aliskerov be Khamzat Chimaev’s first MMA loss? Only time will tell.
