Frenchman William Gomis took on Netherland’s Jarno Errens in a Featherweight clash at UFC Fight Night 209 in Paris, France. This was their UFC debut against one another on the main card of UFC Paris. The fight went down at Accor Arena in Paris.
Gomis went into the fight at UFC Fight Night: Gane vs Tuivasa on an eight-fight winning streak that spans nearly six years. His last loss in MMA came at the hands of Morgan Charriere back in 2016. Since then he has been on a dominant run, knocking and submitting his opponents to get a chance to compete in the UFC finally. After twelve fights in MMA, his record stands at 10-2.
On the other hand, Errens has only lost once in his last seven fights. Errens victories by submission, accounting for 38% of his career total. While his other wins have come via knockout or technical knockout (24%) and a further five more by decision (38%). After a total of seventeen fights, his record stands at 13-3-1.
Going into the fight Gomis was a favourite at -225 while Errens was a +190 underdog at UFC Paris. Gomis who is from MMA Factory Paris joins his teammate and headliner Ciryl Gane on the card. Although the pre-fight face-off interaction between the Featherweights was friendly and both fighters showed respect to one another. However, in the Octagon it was all business for these two ‘all-action’ Featherweights.

Round 1: The first round started with both fighters sizing up each other with some kicks and punches in the first minute. Midway through the fight, Errens initiated a clinch to secure a takedown. However, it was Gomis who wound up on top. After securing the takedown Jaguar didn’t do much damage to his opponent but took control of the position. Errens in the final minutes manage to stand up.

Round 2: The second round started with a clinch and some light work from both fighters. After a knee from Errens, Gomis clinched his opponent to secure another takedown. After three minutes of the second round, Jarno managed to stand up to trade some shots and bag the round. In the final minutes, Jaguar secured a takedown but Errens was able to reverse the position.
Round 3: The final round saw the two fighters trading punches and knees on their feet. Errens put on the pressure in the early minutes of the final round. After a clinch was initiated, Jaguar secured another takedown and worked on the top to land some knees and elbows. Halfway through the final round out of nowhere Errens pulled out a triangle from the bottom position which got the Paris crowd going wild. Although, Jaguar was able to get out of the submission and finish the fight on top.
