When Joe Rogan started out as a podcaster, he was primarily interviewing MMA fighters. It took him quite a while to become the most prominent podcaster on the planet. Several years ago, Jon Jones was once the guest (episode 880) and shocked Rogan with his pre-fight practices. Jones is known for being a party animal outside the UFC, and his revelation had Rogan in awe.
Jon Jones can be seen saying, “I had this crazy thing that I would do where I would party one week before every fight. And I did it throughout my whole career. And it was stupid, but it was this mental crutch that I had. I literally would, one week before every fight, I would go out and I would get blacked out wasted. And my logic was, if this guy were to beat me somehow, I can look myself in the mirror and say that, ‘Well I lost because I got hammered the week before the fight.'”
Joe Rogan certainly was not expecting this to be the answer, and so did a lot of people when they heard it. Sneak peeks like this into Jones’s life outside of the Octagon reveal the level of skill the former light heavyweight champ has. As Jones returns to the Octagon next month to fight for the vacant heavyweight Title, stories like these aren’t familiar to the new fans of MMA. This is also what arguably makes him the best fighter the sport of MMA has ever seen.
‘King of Cringe’ Henry Cejudo picks Jon Jones to defeat Ciryl Gane at UFC 285
Olympic Gold Medalist and former two-division champion Henry Cejudo picked Jon Jones to defeat Cyril Gane at UFC 285. Talking about Jones on his Youtube Channel, Cejudo felt Jones can capture the vacant UFC heavyweight title.
Cejudo said, “I do believe in my wholehearted heart that Jon Jones is not only going to beat Ciryl Gane, but he’s going to either submit him, or he’s going to stop him. I don’t think this fight goes past three rounds.”
Cejudo’s prediction comes off as highly confident about Jon Jones dominating a skilled fighter like Cyril Gane at UFC 285. After retiring, Cejudo has trained with Jon Jones several times and has first-hand experience of what ”Bones’ is capable of. It remains to be seen if Jones can beat Gane the exact same way as Cejudo’s prediction.
