“I lost money on him” WWE star Bobby Lashley admires Paddy Pimblett’s rise in the UFC
Paddy Pimblett gets praise from Bobby Lashley
Paddy Pimblett has reached a great level of stardom since his introduction to the UFC. So much so that WWE star Bobby Lashley is full of praise for the Liverpool fighter. The former mixed martial artist truly appreciates what Paddy The Baddy is doing for the sport of MMA.
Paddy Pimblett has taken over the UFC by a storm and has one of the biggest fanbases among the other fighters on the UFC roster. The fighter truly won over everyone with his recent performances at the O2 Arena. No matter who else is fighting on the card, Paddy can hold his own alongside the biggest names on the Ultimate Fighting Championship roster. One global star that seems to be paying a lot of attention to Paddy’s rise in the UFC is WWE champion, Bobby Lashley.
In a recent exclusive interview with BT Sport, Bobby talks about the scouser and also reveals that he also bet against the fighter. “I can’t say I lost money on him because all the UK fans will hate me,” said Bobby talking about betting on the Paddy vs Jordan Leavitt fight at UFC London. “I didn’t know who was going to win that fight. I thought it was going to be a hard test for Paddy.”
Bobby Lashley urges the UFC to let Paddy Pimblett ‘continue to be a star’
Though Paddy is a huge star in terms of popularity, the fighter is yet to be tested inside the octagon. The lightweight division is stacked with killers and Paddy is yet to face one of them. It is widely believed that Paddy is still not a championship-caliber fighter and the WWE star resonates with the same belief.
“Keep him back, let that guy continue to be a star before you really throw him into the deep water, I think,” said Bobby Lashley in his BT Sport interview talking about Paddy fighting top-level competition inside the octagon. “I like him because he is great for everything. He is great for the kids, he is fun, he had a really charismatic personality, and he is a good fighter.”
Though Lashley thinks Paddy is a good fighter, he still needs time before he is put up against the top-level competition. Pimblett also has said that he won’t be fighting guys that are paid more than him unless he gets a revisioned contract. Until then we will see Pimblett fighting opponents with similar fight experiences inside the UFC octagon.
