Yair Rodriguez on Zabit Magomedsharipov
Zabit Magomedsharipov has cemented his spot as the biggest “what if” in the short history of MMA. The Dagestani Monk officially announced his retirement from the sport stemming from persistent health issues affecting his endurance.
For the short time, he was a part of the sport, and Zabit entertained the fans to the best of his ability. Unlike other fighters from the region who rely heavily on their wrestling, Zabit was not hesitant to mix it up on the feet while having a reliable grappling skill set enabling him to paint a beautiful picture of violence on the canvas of Mixed Martial Arts.
From his flashy kicks to unique submissions, Zabit gave it all in the octagon and left fans heartbroken as he put the final nail in the coffin of his MMA career.

“I wish him the best”- Yair Rodriguez has no ill feelings towards Zabir Magomedsharipov
One of Zabit’s most fierce rivals is Yair Rodriguez, and now that he is retired fans would never get to see the super match between these two. Yair Rodriguez is booked to face Brian Ortega at the main event of the next UFC Fight Night event, and Yair talked about Zabit in his recent interview with The MMA Hour.
He said, “Well, I thought he was already retired, so I wasn’t surprised when I heard he officially retired. It’s sad that we never get to fight each other. There was a lot of things between him and I that was said. But I don’t have any bad feelings towards the guy. I wish him the best. I hope he’s healthy. I hope everything’s going well in his life. It’s just sad that we never got to settle what we have.”
With this rivalry out of his way, Yair is completely focused on the task at hand, and he expects to dominate Ortega in their fight, and then he would go ahead and get his much-deserved shot at the featherweight title.
