UFC rising star Paddy Pimblett can get his hopes high as Irishman Conor McGregor has given the Liverpool fighter his cosign. The Notorious One wouldn’t mind getting in the octagon with the entertaining lightweight in the future.
Conor McGregor is the biggest draw in all of combat sports and Paddy Pimblett can take great pride in the fact that the Notorious One wouldn’t mind a future bout with the Liverpool fighter. Pimblett is only beginning his reign in the Ultimate Fighting Championship and has already got the attention of the superstars. In a recent interview with Seconds Out, McGregor spoke about a potential bout against Paddy.
“He’s a good kid, Paddy…you’ve got to love the Scousers,” McGregor told the reporter from SecondsOut. “My father was born in Liverpool. One side of my family is from there so I’ve got a lot of love for that part of the world.” Conor is recovering from his injury from UFC 264 and is now looking to make a return in the fall of 2022.
“Never say never,” Conor McGregor’s response to a potential fight against Paddy
“Who knows? You know, I will never say no to nothing. You know, never say never, as they say,” was Conor’s response to a potential fight with the up-and-coming UFC superstar. Despite having the cosign of McGregor himself, Paddy still has a long way to go before he can step into the octagon with big guns like McGregor.
Paddy is currently only one fight into the new promotion and had a fantastic first impression. Pimblett got a first-round knockout against Luigi Vandramini on his UFC debut. Pimblett has already got himself a fanbase after his amazing post-fight interview with Michael Bisping at UFC Vegas 36. The Liverpool fighter is set to take on Rodrigo Vargas at UFC London on March 20th.
Conor was kind enough to wish the Liverpool fighter the best of luck ahead of his debut. Pimblett was surprised to know the love the Irishman had for him and reciprocated the love by thanking him in front of the media. Would you like to see a McGregor vs Pimblett fight?
