UFC Heavyweight, fan favourite and most hilarious Derrick Lewis are back to action at UFC 271 when he will be one half of the heavyweight co-main event against upcoming prospect Tai Tuivasa. Lewis and Tuivasa are coming heading into the fight night blessed with unmatchable knockout power from both sides. Lewis himself has the record for most knockout wins in UFC heavyweight history.
Lewis, fighting out of Houston, Texas with a 26-8 overall career record in MMA, has secured 21 wins by knockout and has an astonishing 85% finish rate. Lewis has knocked out the likes of Curtis Blaydes, Alexey Oleynik, Alexander Volkov, Travis Browne and Gabriel Gonzaga. Besides that, he has incredible decision victories over the likes of current UFC heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou, Ilir Latifi and Roy Nelson.
Derrick Lewis feels appreciated for his hard work on getting USADA’s jacket for clean athletes
Recently, Lewis was awarded a token of appreciation for his sincerity in being a clean athlete of the sport of MMA and passing a record of more than 50 drug tests with flying colours. Lewis was awarded a bomber jacket from US Anti-Doping Agency- USADA for passing 57 drug tests organized by the agency. The jacket has designs indicating bragging rights for an athlete like Lewis for fighting and winning in the most honest way possible. He was called “a representative of clean sport” by the USADA representative.
Lewis in reaction to getting the jacket said, “Amazing life man, you know. I’ve been fighting for a long time and it’s crazy! Damn! I never took anything, supplements or anything like that, not even vitamins. So it’s pretty cool to get something like this [looking at his jacket], to show my hard work.”
