“One of the greatest surprises”- Henry Cejudo commends the UFC for inducting Khabib Nurmagomedov to the Hall of Fame

“Triple C” aka Henry Cejudo took to social media, almost instantaneously, to congratulate Khabib Nurmagomedov on his induction into the UFC Hall of Fame.

Since his retirement ‘The Eagle’ has been praised by MMA fans as the greatest fighter of all time. While it might be confusing to some that these fighters are friends, however, Khabib and Cejudo have known each other for years as they share the same manager Ali Abdelaziz. It’s quite apparent that they have a lot of respect for each other, during an interview with Mike Tyson, Khabib praised Cejudo saying.

 “I have good numbers too. But honestly, I’m gonna say this, I feel you’re a little bit higher than me in like in sport, like levels… because of Olympic Gold Medal. This is like different level. This is like dream of anybody.“, Cejudo returned the favor saying he thought Khabib held the title for the most dominant UFC fighter.

Khabib’s induction into the hall of fame was a question of when and not if. After the announcement at UFC 272, Cejudo took to Twitter- “This has to be one of the greatest surprises and couldn’t happen to a more deserving person. @khabibnurmagomedov Congratulations on your UFC Hall of Fame induction. Sports can bring the world together.”

Even after their careers in the UFC, the former champions have continued to work together in Khabib’s MMA promotion Eagle FC.

Both Khabib and Cejudo fought their way to the top which is why they have the support of the masses but when asked who is the superior Khabib, without even batting an eye, acknowledges that Cejudo has bested him on that front.

Khabib retired after his victory against Justin Gaethje at UFC 254. He is a rare talent in the combat world who has done what no one else could, retire undefeated as the number one ranked fighter. Constantly a part of the Greatest of All Time conversation, his legacy is secure and the impact he had back home in Dagestan cannot be underestimated.
