“UFC pushing for Junior dos Santos vs Ciryl Gane “-Dana White
On Thursday, UFC President Dana White told the media at a scrum in Abu Dhabi that UFC is working on a bout between Junior Dos Santos and the undefeated Ciryl Gane. News is that Gane is pushing to fight dos Santos in December. While Gane is undefeated at 6 wins, dos Santos looks to end his 3-match losing streak.
UFC trying for Gane vs dos Santos match
Junior dos Santos is one of the recognizable names in the company. He most recently fought at UFC 252 where he lost to Jairzinho Rozenstruik through KO . Santos is in the middle of one of the worst slumps of his career, a three match losing streak. Gane was to fight Ante Delija in UFC Fight Island 6’s co-main event before Delija was pulled due to Professional Fighters League (PFL). It was a matchup that could have propelled Gane up the heavyweight ladder. Most recently, he defeated Tanner Boser by unanimous decision at UFC Busan in December 2019.
In what could be his first fight in close to a year, Ciryl Gane is to take on former UFC heavyweight champion Junior dos Santos in his next Octagon appearance, according to Dana White. He confirmed this news in the UFC Fight Island 6 pre-fight media scrum. The president, however refused to disclose any further information.
And, a win for Gane over dos Santos will do wonders for his UFC heavyweight future.
