UFC Light-heavyweight Wellington Turman made the biggest possible statement as he assures he is with the UFC for a very long time, case in point, defeating a grappling heavy fighter in Misha Cirkunov via submission at UFC Vegas 49. Turman however is a black belt in Jiu-Jitsu himself and is perhaps nicknamed “The Prodigy” for a reason. Read through the fight narration to comprehend how quickly did the finish happen!

Round 1: Cirkunov and Turman eventually get into a clinch within 30 seconds of the first round. Turman managed to take Crikunov down but the latter gets up, only to get controlled by Turman in standing back control. Turman’s legs have wrapped Crikunov tightly for strong back control. Turman has wrapped his hands around Cirkunov in a crank position.

Cirkunov stays calm to escape from a near submission loss. Now Cirkunov lands whilst standing as Turman is on the ground. Some good ground and pound. Cirkunov instantly closes the distance and gets on the ground with Turman to execute a D’arce choke. Cirkunov gets back on his feet. The fight ends with the crowd chanting Cirkunov’s name. Round 2: Round 2 starts similar to round 1. The clinch is tight but Turman lands some elbows, followed by Cirkunov getting the takedown. Out of nowhere, Turman executes a very quick positional change to execute an armbar submission and Cirkunov has no option but to tap. Turman turned the tables, perhaps the biggest victory of his UFC career.
