Reports: Jorge Masvidal fractures Colby Covington’s tooth, slapped with felony battery charges for the attack in Miami, Florida

Colby Covington-Jorge Masvidal
Looks like UFC megastar Jorge Masvidal finally got the price he needed to pay for trying to settle his bad blood with bitter rival Colby Covington outside the competition of cage fighting. Masvidal took out Covington in a physical altercation outside Papi Steak Restaurant in Miami, Florida on Monday night due to which multiple people including entourage and law enforcement officers got involved.

Masvidal and Covington were best friends for almost 8 years before things got started salty and beef over Covington not paying to Masvidal’s coach escalated to such an extent that both were expelled from their training gym, American Top Team, after which only Masvidal came back. Covington on the other hand joined MMA Masters in Florida. The 2 then collided against each other at UFC 272, the fight that handed Covington the unanimous decision win due to his pace of striking and pressure in wrestling.
Jorge Masvidal facing possible felony charges for fracturing Colby Covington’s tooth

Now as per the reports obtained by MMA Fighting- SBN, Masvidal fractured Colby Covington’s tooth in a report that held Masvidal as the potential suspect and Covington’s name was redacted. However, multiple sources of MMA Fighting confirmed that Covington is the alleged victim. Because of this, Masvidal is likely to face felony battery charges from this altercation.
According to ESPN MMA correspondent Mike Coppinger’s article- “According to the victim, Masvidal ran up from the left and sucked-punched him twice. One punch was to his mouth and the other to his left eye. During the attack, the victim claims Masvidal said, “you shouldn’t have been talking about my kids.” Masvidal repeated a similar statement on social media.”
In the further report, Covington added that he saw “three or four other unknown males” approaching him in an “aggressive manner,” so he pushed away before running “back into the Papi Steak restaurant, where he contacted police.” [h/t ESPN MMA]
What do you make of this incident involving Masvidal facing legal issues now due to his aggressive behaviour towards Covington? Masvidal definitely got his chance at the grand stage of UFC 272 and he might have failed in taking revenge for all the grudges he had against Covington, but it’s Covington’s persona to play the worst person on the microphone during press conferences that is paying up big time. Do you think persona’s like Covington’s shouldn’t be taken seriously, or was Masvidal right in proving a point that no matter what you should never talk about someone’s kids.
