“Aljamain might be a tougher puzzle to solve,” Rob Font rates Aljamain Sterling above former champion Petr Yan
Aljamain Sterling Rob Font Petr Yan
Rob Font has made it clear to the rest of the bantamweight division that he is a threat to the title at UFC Vegas 27. The winner of Font vs Garbrandt believes that he will find it tougher to break current bantamweight champion Aljamain Sterling than title contender Petr Yan.
Font has made it clear that he sees nothing but the prize from now on. He comfortably beat former champion Cody Garbrandt at Vegas 27 in the main event by putting on a striking masterclass. That win saw Rob carry a four-fight consecutive win, proving he is the real deal. The title contender made an appearance at the post-fight press conference talking about the fight and his future.
Font believes that current champion Aljo Sterling is a bigger threat to him than the former champion Yan. He thinks that Yan has a similar style to Cody who he just dominated in a five-round fight. “I think Aljamain might be a tougher puzzle to solve,” Font said. “Petr Yan’s similar to Cody. You know, stay long, long jab, and then run into something big. Aljamain’s a little trickier because of the wrestling and his length. But Aljamain, the same thing, I think it will be boxing him up, stop a couple of takedowns and then straight box him up.“
Rob Font promises that he will take advantage of this oppurtunity
Rob has won fights over some of the best in the division including, Marlon Moraes, Ricky Simon, and Sergio Pettis. Though Font has wins over them he has failed to capitalize on big fights before. But yesterday he sure didn’t fail and proved to the division that he is a threat. “I’ve had these opportunities before and didn’t capitalize on them,” Font said.
“I’ve got the Lineker fights, the Assuncao fights, and the Munhoz fights, so this obviously I’m proud of what I’ve done, but I feel like it’s just like, alright, finally. I should have done it before. I’ve got this second chance and I’m just taking advantage of the second chance,” Font said in the press conference. Rob wants to get an opportunity to fight for an interim title against TJ Dillashaw or Cory Sandhagen in the near future.
