UFC former middleweight champion Robert Whittaker gives his predictions for Aljamain Sterling vs Petr Yan 2 at UFC 273.
We are all set to witness one of the biggest pay-per-view events of 2022. UFC 273 PPV event is scheduled to take place on April 9th at the VyStar Veterans Memorial Arena in Jacksonville, Florida. The event is headlined by Alexander Volkanovski vs The Korean Zombie in an exciting featherweight title fight. However, the co-main event is in no way less exciting than the headliner.
The world will finally be able to witness the much-awaited bantamweight title rematch of Aljamain Sterling vs Petr Yan 2 at UFC 273. After several attempts to book the rematch, the two bantamweight kings will finally meet in the octagon to find out who the bantamweight throne actually belongs to. Robert Whittaker in a recent interview with James Lynch gave his predictions for this amazing fight.
“Petr Yan is really good,” said Whittaker talking to Lynch. “That last fight, he looked phenomenal. He looked like he was turning the tide in that first fight they had. So, I am gonna go with Petr.”

Aljamain Sterling and Petr Yan previously met each other in the octagon at UFC 259 on 7th March 2021. The fight witnessed one of the most unbelievable endings in UFC history. After 3 rounds of amazing back and forth, the fight was put to halt after the Russian illegally knee’d his opponent leading the judges to disqualify Yan.
This was the first time in UFC’s history that a new champion was crowned via DQ. Sterling fell flat on the ground following the knee which lead him to be the next champion. This was not the ending anyone expected and a title rematch was almost guaranteed after the event. However, a serious injury to Aljamain saw the rematch getting postponed.
In the meantime, Yan has managed to take on Cory Sandhagen at UFC for the interim bantamweight belt and successfully managed to win it. At UFC 273, the co-main event will see an interesting title unifier bout between the two bantamweight champions. Who do you pick to win this fight?
