Sean Strickland vs Alex Pereira

Looks like UFC fans will witness an immensely significant non-title fight, only for the future of middleweight title contention when Sean Strickland and Alex Pereira will be officially down to fight each other in late July. Ever since Strickland’s move from welterweight to middleweight, the Xtreme Couture product has been on a six-fight winning streak with victories over the likes of Jack Hermansson, Uriah Hall and many more.

Alex Pereira

Pereira is most highly known for his legendary status as a notable kickboxer, for he is the man responsible for defeating current UFC middleweight champion Israel Adesanya back during the champ’s days as a kickboxer himself. As of now, Pereira is 5-1 in his overall MMA career with 4 wins coming by the way of knockouts. Pereira is looking forward to rising to the middleweight rankings as rapidly as he could so that he grabs the middleweight title irrespective of if there’s Adesanya or not by the time he reaches the top.

Brett Okamoto from ESPN MMA reported on his Twitter handle “Super interesting matchup in the works for UFC 277 on July 30Sean Strickland vs. Alex Pereira is verbally agreed to, per sources. Has the look of an all-action fight on the feet. No official location for this card yet.”

The fight is most likely to stay on the feet for both Strickland and Pereira have their strengths in striking the most. Strickland is a fundamental boxer with great defence whereas Pereira is a diverse kickboxer with hands of knockout power and sneaky yet vicious knee attacks as well.

What do you think of this matchup? Who do you think wins between both of these top prospects? Do you think Pereira will run over Strickland just like all his past opponents or will Strickland prove to be the first bitter learning experience for Pereira? Do you think this fight has any scopes of going to the ground?
