  • MMA Junkie and Sherdog awarded him the Comeback Fighter of the Year in 2020 following his victories over Jack Marshman and Brendan Allen. Strickland was out for two years after an accident involving a motorcycle and a car rendered a knee injury and concussion. The accident happened in December of 2018.
  • Sean Strickland made his light heavyweight debut against Nassourdine Imavov, who headlined the fight night card on January 14, 2023. Strickland was a short-notice replacement for Kelvin Gastelum. He won the fight via unanimous decision. It was followed by another fight night headliner on July 1, 2023, against the unranked Abus Magomedov. Strickland TKOed Magomedov, earning a Performance of the Night bonus.
