Robert Whittaker did cause a commotion for his fans and the MMA community by posting a tweet on Wednesday. This was apparently done without him wanting to cause a stir but it did anyway.

Robert last fought against the reigning champ of the UFC Israel Adesanya just this last month and is apparently already prepping for his next. Robert Whittaker opens up at ‘The MMA hour’ with Ariel Helwani about what his recent tweet was about and if he was thinking about moving down to 170lbs.

Robert Whittaker still remains the #2 ranked middleweight contender and is puzzled by everyone thinking he’s going down a weight class. Whittaker said, “Mate, it had unexpected attention and unintentional attention, because it just got out of control. I consider camp Rob — so Rob that’s in camp, Rob that’s very happily eating his way to sleep every night — as Skinny Rob. You know? That’s why in a lot of my posts previously I’ve said things like, ‘OK, Skinny Rob’s on the shelf now for a while,’ etc, etc. But everyone was just like, ‘He’s going back to 170! Looking at how skinny he is already!’”

“People don’t realize how heavy I walk around,” the former UFC middleweight champion added. “So, I’ll walk around 215 [pounds], 220 in life. That’s just my living weight.” Robert goes on to reveal why he posted that tweet.

‘Bobby knuckles’ continue to drop hints at the MMA hour about his next potential fight, saying ‘Something is in the works’ hinting at his next fight and letting Ariel do the guessing. Ariel Helwani straight away put Marvin Vettori’s name in the box which is the only fighter Robert hasn’t pieced apart in the top five.

“If we’re just breaking it down, if we’re just spitballing here, in the top five, I think there’s only one guy I haven’t fought yet,” Whittaker said. “Right? So then his name is the only one to pull out of the hat.”

Robert Whittaker added that he had all of it figured out and was just waiting in on the final details. He said that he didn’t have any injuries and any day in June would work for him. “There might be something in the works,” Whittaker said with a grin. “I might have a name picked out, I might have a location picked out, and you know, I’m turning it around sooner than I normally do and just jumping straight back in there.”

He also stated that he would probably finish the contract he has left, try to fight one last time for the belt and then think about moving up a weight class to LHW. What do you think about ‘The Reaper’s move up to LHW?
