Themba Gorimbo was a Zimbabwe fighter who competed in the UFC welterweight division. He garnered a lot of traction from the fans once Dwayne Johnson shed light on his story earlier this year. As such, Gorimbo was selfless and took the initiative to better the lives of people in his village in Zimbabwe. Recently, Dustin Poirier made a huge donation to ‘The Answer’ for a good cause.

‘The Answer’ started a new initiative to help old people who had cataracts in their eyes. He was moved by the vision to provide them with good eyesight. Now, Themba Gorimbo received a $10,000 donation from the former UFC interim champion Dustin Poirier. As such, he took it to X to announce the news and thank Poirier. Here is what he said:

@DustinPoirier Thank you for the donation of a $10 000 to the new initiative I am starting in village in Zimbabwe of fixing cataract for old people in my. It’s going to change a lot of people’s lives.Imagine you can’t see one time and next thing you see clear.

Themba Gorimbo was known for his community service in his village in Zimbabwe. Earlier, he installed a few water pumps in his village to provide clean water for the families living there. Now, with his recent visit to his village, he found out about old people not having the money to fix their cataracts.

So, he started a new program to gather money to help them with cataract surgeries. As such, Dustin Poirier was inspired by the vision and donated 10k dollars towards the cause.

Although Themba Gorimbo is relatively new to the UFC, his story has already inspired numerous people. As such, he helped the people of his village with the money he made in the UFC. So far, he has an MMA record of 11 wins and 4 losses. In the UFC, he lost his debut but found success in his next fight against Takashi Sato. Now, he was scheduled to face Kiefer Crosbie in February 2024.

The story of Themba Gorimbo meeting Dwayne Johson

After winning his first fight in the UFC, Themba Gorimbo revealed his backstory of becoming a UFC fighter. His story got the attention of the Hollywood star Dwayne Johson who shared a few words about him on his X handle.

Later, inspired by Gorimbo’s life, The Rock surprised him with a visit. He flew to Miami just to meet ‘The Answer’ and solidify his support for him. As such, he met the Zimbabwe native at his gym MMA Masters in Florida.

Themba Gorimbo on seeing Dwayne Johnson, couldn’t control his emotions. He hugged and thanked Johnson repeatedly. Later, ‘The Rock’ took him on a ride to meet a friend of his. They landed in a private property and went inside to find no one was there.

As such, Johnson revealed that the house was a gift to Gorimbo. Gorimbo couldn’t contemplate what was happening and was overwhelmed. The full interaction between the two was posted as a video on X.

‘The Rock’ took a personal relation to the ‘7 dollars’ as he too once had the exact amount in his bank account. Now, he was a multi-million star. So, he knew about the hard work that Themba Gorimbo was putting in and wanted to help him.

Further, he acknowledged Gorimbo for his heart who used the money he made to better the lives of people in his village. As such, with the grand gesture from Dwayne Johnson, Gorimbo extended his extent of helping the people. Also, he promised to become a UFC champion soon.
