Jiri Prochazka is one of the most entertaining fighters in the UFC, known for his wild and unorthodox style. Since his debut in 2020, the Czech fighter has battled some of the top contenders in the light heavyweight division with determination. Prochazka’s stoic demeanor and philosophical approach to fighting have made him a unique presence both inside and outside the Octagon.

In his last UFC outing, Prochazka beat Jamahal Hill via TKO to bounce back from his previous loss against Alex Pereira. It was a stellar performance, which opened up conversation about the fighter possibly fighting for the title again. Recently, he was seen engaging in his distinctive training methods, capturing attention with his deep focus and unconventional routines.

Challenge of this weekend done. Professional work, amazing feeling and totally new world explored. Video in next week, stay tuned.

Prochazka recently posted pictures of him training and meditating above a frozen lake in the wilderness. No matter how weird it looks, Prochazka don’t really surprise fight fans anymore with his antics. The Czech superstar has trained by meditating in forests, shadowboxing with trees, and connecting deeply with nature to sharpen his mind. He has also studied and follows the Bushido code to bring warrior philosophy into his fighting.

The Czech fighter also likes doing blindfolded sparring, which enhances his intuition and awareness, allowing him to react purely on instinct. He was seen making primal screams during training, releasing his inner aggression, while minimalist living kept him grounded. Prochazka’s mental discipline mostly helps him stay composed under pressure, even during brutal exchanges and moments of adversity.

UFC veteran talks about Jiri Prochazka’s weird fighting technique

Before coming to UFC, Jiri Prochazka had a successful career at the Rizin Fighting League in Japan. He won his UFC debut fight by knocking out Volkan Oezdemir with a brutal spinning back elbow finish. He followed up with a wild war against Dominick Reyes, ending it with another spinning elbow that sent shockwaves among the fan base.

Prochazka won the light heavyweight title in 2022 by submitting Glover Teixeira in an instant classic fight of the year. However, a devastating shoulder injury forced him to vacate the belt and take time away from the fight game. He returned to fight Alex Pereira for the vacant belt, but ‘Poatan’ became the champion.

Prochazka has now lost to Pereira on two different occasions, but hasn’t lost his confidence. He has impressed a lot of experts, including veteran commentator Joe Rogan, who is a huge fan of his fighting style.

Jiri fights so strange. There is nobody like him. He’s almost like a karate video game character. Even his movements. He almost moves around like a guy who wouldn’t be good but he’s really good. It’s confusing. Seems like a super odd dude.

Despite his losses, Prochazka has always shown his ability to come back and gather dominating wins. At UFC 311, he defeated Jamahal Hill with a brutal third-round knockout after a wild and high-paced battle. He dropped Hill with a crisp right hand, then swarmed him on the ground, forcing the referee to step in fast. After the fight, he praised Hill’s toughness and called out Pereira for a potential trilogy fight.

Can Jiri Prochazka reclaim his UFC lightweight title?

Jiri Prochazka’s journey back to UFC gold is alive, but the division is now ruled by Magomed Ankalaev’s dominance. Ankalaev recently defeated Alex Pereira by unanimous decision at UFC 313, showcasing a calculated, smothering style that neutralized Pereira’s explosive striking. Prochazka, who once vacated the title due to injury, now eyes redemption and a shot at reclaiming his former championship glory.

However, the UFC may first book a rematch between Ankalaev and Pereira, which could delay Prochazka’s direct route back to the title. If the Czech fighter wins another contender bout, he’ll likely earn the title shot, thanks to his warrior spirit and fan-favorite status.
