“Burns could possibly tire out,” Stephen Thompson shares his prediction for a potential fight between Gilbert Burns and Khamzat Chimaev

Stephen Thompson and Gilbert Burns
The former UFC Welterweight title challenger and number third-ranked UFC Welterweight fighter, Gilbert Burns has been recently offered a fight against number 10th ranked UFC Welterweight fighter and hottest prospect for the Welterweight title, Khamzat Chimaev.
Burns recently secured a win against Stephen Thompson at UFC 264 with his dominant grappling and after the second round, Gilbert Burns appeared to be slow down because of his high-pressure grappling game and Stephen Thompson believes this thing can give him a problem in his potential fight against Khamzat Chimaev.
Talking about the same in his latest interview with Submission Radio, Thompson says, “He’s very powerful, very strong, He’s a very strong guy. I felt his power myself whenever he held me down for three rounds pretty much. He was not letting me up. He was a little tired after that, after that round. He looked a little tired.”
“If they do end up fighting and it’s a five-round fight, Burns could possibly tire out. We’ll see how it goes.” {H/t MMA Junkie}
Stephen Thompson claims Gilbert Burns is going to be Khamzat Chimaev’s first real test

Gilbert Burns is one of the most decorated grapplers in the UFC Welterweight division and even after Khamzat Chimaev’s dominant wins over the other opponents, Stephen Thompson believes Burns is going to be his first real test.
Thompson continued, “If Chimaev goes out there and does work with the guys in the top five, then man, you’ve got to do nothing but, you have to believe him, you’ve got to jump on the train, If he goes out there and does work, you’ve got to jump on the train.”
“Right now, he’s just been smashing guys almost effortlessly. And it feels like almost the guys he’s facing are kind of beat before they get out there, right? He’s crushing guys, and he beat everybody in the first round. So, it’s hard to really see his whole arsenal. …” {H/t MMA Junkie}
