“Maybe because I’m too nice,” Stipe Miocic is upset about being sidelined from the title fight at the UFC’s heavyweight division

Stipe Miocic

The greatest heavyweight of all time, Stipe Miocic is feeling disrespected, and rightly so. With all that’s going on in the UFC’s heavyweight division, the former champion feels like he has been sidelined from the picture of the title fight.

Stipe Miocic is the greatest heavyweight fighter till today. He has the most title defenses in the division and has won the belt twice. Miocic lost the heavyweight title to Francis Ngannou at UFC 260 when he faced the “Predator” for the second time. He lost via knockout in the second round which saw Francis Ngannou become the heavyweight champion. With UFC star, Jon Jones‘s drama, UFC President somehow went with the decision to host an interim heavyweight title fight between Derrick Lewis vs Ciryl Gane.

Ciryl Gane became the interim champion at UFC 265 and is now scheduled to face Francis for the unification. Where does Miocic fall into this mess? The fighter himself spoke to MMA Fighting about his opinion and plans. “There’s a lot of moving parts, I guess you would say. I’m going to sit down with Dana here in September and kind of figure out what’s the next gameplan and what we’re going to do,” said Stipe talking to MMA Fighting.

It is very clear that Stipe Miocic has only one thing in mind. He has been emphasizing that he wants to fight Francis again and get back his belt. “Honestly, getting the title back,” he said. “But definitely [I want] to get that fight with Francis. Hopefully, he keeps it and hopefully we fight again and I get back what’s mine.” Miocic has always been the nice guy who never talks trash and does all his talking inside the octagon.

Being sidelined does not seem to affect the former champ very much because he has been the underdog all his career. “It happens all the time,” he said. “I mean, it’s pretty much my [entire career]. That’s fine with me. Maybe because I’m too nice. I don’t know. Maybe it’s because I don’t talk sh*t. I don’t know if I talk enough smack or I’m not a trash-talker, I don’t know. Who knows?” said Stipe.
