Conor McGregor has gone back to his roots. Crumlin Boxing Club in Dublin is where Conor first learned how to fight back when he was just a newbie to the fight game.
McGregor has been sidelined following his leg injury, received in a loss to Dustin Porier at UFC 264. He’s chosen to sit out and return to the octagon, perhaps at a bigger weight class, once his leg has recovered fully. Conor broke his tibia and fibula in the bout and fans have been eagerly waiting for his comeback ever since. Thankfully the Notorious One regularly updates his social media and fans have been privy to a constant stream of updates.

His latest stories on Instagram show the former two division champion back where it all began, the Crumlin Boxing Club. He first walked into the boxing club at 12 and kept training there till he was an up and coming amateur. He’s returned at a crucial juncture in his career, this being the first time he’s had back to back losses in the UFC.

In the series of stories uploaded we see Conor improve his striking while working the pads. He called his gym “the school of excellence” and highlighted a few young fighters with the encouraging words “flawless technique” and “real work.” A few posts where he plugs McGregorFast and his whiskey later he ends with a group photo, captioned “With the future champions of @crumlinboxingclubofficial”

“I come from a place called Crumlin, in Dublin 12. It’s a place dear to my heart. It’s where I learned how to fight; it made me who I am today. It’s a place I’m still very much a part of every single day of my life.”- Conor McGregor
Conor McGregor calls out Kamaru Usman in bid for third UFC title

The Notorious hasn’t fully healed from his leg injury, yet he’s come out and demanded a title shot for his next bout. Despite the time he’s spent away from the octagon and the fact that Usman is pound for pound #1 right now, the former champ-champ is confident in his abilities. He isn’t afraid of Usman since, according to McGregor, Usman is “a jab happy, sloppy, orthodox wrestler with no submissions whatsoever.”
Conor does not see any danger with the Usman fight.
Dana White, President of the UFC responded to Conor’s comments saying, “Yeah, it’s interesting, I hadn’t heard that. He’s coming into Vegas, we’re getting together and we’re gonna talk. We’ll see what’s next… Any Conor fight is good money-wise.” It would be impossible for any other fighter on the roster to jump weight classes for a title fight after back to back losses but if Conor wants it, Conor is gonna get it.
